Charming early GEORGE III circular snuff box with pull off lid.
Circa 1760's.

The lid is made of tortoiseshell inlaid with delightful Old Sheffield Plate images of Aesop's Fable of the Fox and the Crane. The sides of the lid are also covered in Old Sheffield Plate. The sides of the base are covered in die stamped Old Sheffield Plate with floral and leaf decoration, while the base is made of pressed horn.
