The reverse of this delightful medal is emblematic of the state of Britain who is shown to be seated in repose under the protection of William and Mary. This medal is one of a large series issued in Nuremberg by Friedrich Kleinert around the time of the coronation and just after. Kleinert employed a number of foreign, as well as native, medallists and although the medals in this series had varying subjects, they were all intent on boosting William's popularity as the new King of England.
