Pair of very attractive sterling silver George III tablespoons of good gauge, with bright-cut stems. Exeter 1795 by Richard Ferris. The bowls are elegantly pointed. The stems are shaped in the Old English style and are beautifully engraved with a bright-cut pattern on the front only which is typically Exeter. The end of each stem has a bright-cut cartouche, within which are engraved the initials "SW" in a decorative style. A full set of hallmarks is clearly stamped on the back of each spoon near the end of the stem.

Condition :-Very good condition with only slight signs of wear. The bright-cut engraving on the stems is extremely crisp. On one tablespoon, the right side of the maker's mark is partly overstamped by the Assay Office's hallmarks. Apart from this, the hallmarks on both spoons are very good and clear and the patina is excellent
Hallmarked :- Exeter 1795 Hallmarks
Size :- 8.9 inches (22.6cm) long
Weight :- 3.94 ozt (122.8 g)
Exeter silver is much collected. No silver was assayed at Exeter after 1882. These tablespoons would be ideal for serving vegetables or puddings or anything else, other than meat from a casserole. They would make a perfect gift since they look so decorative and are so versatile. No home can have too many spoons.
