Pair of George III boat-shaped sterling silver salts on pedestal foot. The foot and rim is decorated with a band of beading of generous size. On one side of each salt is engraved a family crest of a griffon's head erased. The hallmarks are stamped beneath each foot and are very crisp.

Condition :-Extremely good with a very pleasing patina. The hallmarks are very crisp and clear.
Hallmarked :- London 1783 .
Size :- 4 inches (10.2cm) long x 2.3 inches (5.8cm) wide x 2.7 inches (6.8cm) at highest point.
Weight :- 5.7ozt (177.4g)
The shape of these salts and the bead-edging makes them very elegant indeed. Also, they are large enough to be put to other uses when not needed for salt. We always have salt spoons in stock and are happy to advise you as to which would go best with the salts which you choose. Robert Hennell (I) was part of the Hennell dynasty, which produced the most numerous silversmiths of one family working continuously over the longest period, with a consistently high standard of execution. Salts and mustard pots were very much their speciality.
