Pair of Victorian sterling place settings or menu holders in the shape of the crest for Beaumont of Barrow on Trent. The crest is decoratively executed in matted and smooth silver to imitate armorial colours. It entails a lion passant standing on a Cap of Maintenance with the motto below "ERECTUS NON ELATUS", (Exalted but not elated). The very crisp
hallmarks are behind the crest on the base which stands on the table.

This pair of place settings were obviously part of a much larger set. They are very grand indeed and would make a wonderful addition to a collection of settings, or would set a very high standard for anyone whishing to start a new collection.
