George III circular sterling silver cream jug of generous size and excellent gauge. The half fluted body stands on a pedestal foot and is surrounded by a gadroon wire on the base of the foot and on the rim of the cream jug. Two small and one larger bands of reeding surround the body above the fluting. The reeded handle joins the body of the jug with a
three-fold leaf support. A full set of hallmarks is stamped under the foot.
Maker :- Daniel Pontifex overstriking another.
Condition :-Very good indeed with just one small superficial nick one third of the way up the spout, probably due to a casting fault during manufacture. The jug is fully marked under the foot and the hallmarks are very crisp.

This is a large and extremely useful sized jug of very elegant form. Its total capacity is 14 fluid ounces (400cl). Not only can it be used as a milk jug for a family breakfast but it can also be used for chocolate sauce, or any other sauce that pours. Daniel Pontifex was known for his high standard as a silversmith and for the delicacy of his
designs.
