| Condition :-Very solid salts in good
condition, apart from a few small digs. The hallmarks, which are on the side
below the border, are slightly rubbed but very legible on one of the salts.
However, the marks are good and clear on the other three salts. |

| The makers' mark standa for Edward Barnard (I) and
his three sons. The Barnards always produced silver items of a very high
standard and a very generous weight. This is reflected in the quality of these
salts. When not used for salt, these salts are large enough to be used for
bon-bons etc. or grapes or cherries, or since they are gilt inside, for small
flowers. The fact that the borders are gilt is a great plus since salt so often
spills over onto the border and corrodes the silver. |
