The Worshipful Company of Cooks was incorporated on 11th July 1482. The medallist, John Kirk, was a pupil of James Dassier. He executed a large number of medals and medalets and received premiums from the Society of Arts. He died on 27th November, 1776, so the die for this badge must have been struck prior to that date.
