Click here for a larger image French silver mounted coconut flask very finely carved in bas relief with Trophies of Arms, the Hunt, Musical Instruments and A Pelican In Its Piety. A native face is carved around the silver mounted spout, which forms the mouth of the face. The realistic eyes are of white glass with black irises. The silver mounted cork to the spout is retained by a silver chain which is anchored to the forehead of the face.

Condition :-Excellent condition with no cracks in the coconut whatsoever. The only damage is to the two silver discs which held the shoulder strap or cord. On one side, the disc is still there but the central ring has gone. On the other side, the central ring and the silver disc have gone.

Size :- 6.5 inches long (16.5 cm) x 3.2 inches wide (8.1 cm)
This is a very fine piece indeed and the quality of the carving is far superior to that of the average carved coconut flask.
