Charles James Fox (1749-1806) statesman, third son of Henry Fox, first Baron Holland. Educated at Eton and Hertford College, Oxford. In 1768, elected MP for Midhurst. In 1770, became a member of the Board of the Admiralty under North. In 1780, was elected MP for Westminster and continued to represent that city until his death, with the exception of a slight interruption. In 1789, he asserted that the Prince of Wales had a right to the Regency and strove to make a new Administration against Pitt, who was opposed to the Prince of Wales as Regent.
