Sugar spoons, or preserve spoons as they are often called, are just about the most versatile serving implement on the dining or breakfast table. Apart from their use for sugar and for jam, they are ideal for serving any thick sauce or relish which is only needed in small quantities, such as, for example, horseradish sauce, mayonnaise, cranberry or other jelly, chutneys, chilli sauces, etc. Sugar spoons made in Newcastle are not easy to find.
