Victorian sterling silver Medway Rowing Club prize medal presented in 1897. Hallmarked Birmingham 1896. Obverse: Within a shield, a horse rampant facing left. Beneath on scrolled ribbon "MEDWAY ROWING CLUB". Below: 1865. Reverse: "CLUB PAIRS./1897./E.A. GILL./ STROKE." Around the edge, a fruited laurel wreath. Just above the wreath are the Birmingham hallmarks for 1896 and beneath these the maker's mark W & C probably for Warrington & Co. London.
