Click here for a larger image Elegant George III silver tongue scraper. Circa 1800. Unmarked. The scraper consists of a bow of springy silver which has a plain central piece which continues half-way down each arm. There it is joined to the other half of the arms which are made of very decoratively twisted silver, each ending in a plain, spatulate finial.
 
Condition :-Excellent condition and a good patina

Size :- 3.4 inches (8.6 cm) long x 4 inches (10.2 cm) wide between both ends
Weight :- 0.23 ozt (7.2 g)
It was not unusual for tongue scrapers to be unmarked. They were usually part of a toilet service but were also used in pocket travelling cases which would also contain a tooth brush and a tooth powder box.
