Click here for a larger image Very ingeniously constructed Queen Anne brass sealing wax holder with iron seal on base. Circa 1710. The brass holder is of a rectangular, tapered and shaped form with a hinged lid. The top of the lid is engraved with a typically Queen Anne design. The front and back of the body have a small decorative design somewhat like a coronet. The centre of the front design incorporates a button which, when pressed, opens the hinged lid. The base is an iron seal with the bust of Queen Anne and the legend "Anna Regina".

Condition :-Very good condition with the hinge mechanism in perfect order
Circa :- 1710  
Size :- 3.1 inches (7.9 cm) long x 0.5 inches (1.3 cm) wide x 0.5 inches (1.3 cm) deep at widest and deepest points
 
This is a most attractive object from the Queen Anne era which can still be used to-day. The concealed button which releases the sprung lid is a neat piece of engineering.
