The dies of this medal are in the British Museum. They were bought amongst others by Mathew Young from the representatives of the Roettier family and afterwards he presented them to the British Museum. According to MI, as soon as the Prince was born, he was placed on a couch and held his first levee. Cardinals, prelates and soldiers who had been in exile for a long time were present to offer their congratulations. This medal was ordered to be struck in commemoration of this event. An opposing view is given by Noel Woolf on page 81 of "The Medallic Record of the Jacobite Movement".
