Simple and elegant oval shaped Queen Anne Britannia Standard
silver brush. London 1713 by Nathaniel Lock. The slightly domed silver body is
plain and sits on a generously sized gadrooned border. The patina is very
mellow as befits its age and the softer Britannia silver. The full set of
hallmarks is struck at one end of the body. Although the marks are slightly
rubbed, they are all perfectly legible. The bristles flare out from beneath the
body and have been replaced at some time but this was not done recently.
