Click here for a larger image George III sterling silver Onslow pattern gravy ladle with fluted, shell-shaped, bowl and cast, scroll end to the handle. The very crisp hallmarks are struck at the base of the handle, which is joined to the bowl with a decorative double drop. The scarf join is clearly visible on the back of the handle.

Condition :-Extremely good. A few small scratches on the drop at the back of the bowl. The hallmarks are struck at the base of the stem and are very crisp. The maker's mark, which is next to the hallmarks, appears to have been more lightly struck but is very visible.

Weight :- 1.55 ozt (48.3 g)
This pattern was originally produced from about 1760 and is now very rare. Genuine examples, which should have a scarf join, are hard to find and are mostly serving pieces. The Onslow pattern is such a festive and original design that this ladle would blend well with any table service, so long as it is not too ornate. It would also make an excellent gift.
