Very striking pair of eighteenth century steel spurs from South America.with a wonderful gleam to the steel. The horse-shoe shaped part of each spur is made to fit onto the ankle of the rider's boot and each end has a loop to accomodate the straps which keep the spur in place. The 24 spikes of each circular spur rotate freely.

Condition :-Extremely good condition with a wonderful gleam to the steel. Some inevitable damage to a few of the spikes. The tips of four of the 24 spikes are slightly shorter on each spur

Size :- 9.1 inches (23.1cm) total length. 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) diameter of spur
 
These spurs have such a strong, clean shape that they would look very attractive as objects of display. At the end of the eighteenth century, the Cavalry Club in London forbade their members from entering the Club with spiked spurs because the Club's Persian carpets were being ruined.
