According to Mr Lawrence Brown in Vol 1, No. 490 of "A Catalogue of British Historical Medals 1760 - 1960", on November 10, the new Lord Mayor of London was sworn in with the usual ceremonies and on this occasion, Lord Nelson was presented with the sword lately voted to him for his extraordinary services to the country. At the time, the sword cost 200 guineas and was richly ornamented with the handle embellished with gold, blue enamel and studded with diamonds. See the "Gentleman's Magazine" 1800, pp 1100 & 1101 for an account of the ceremony and speeches given.
