Sanda Lipton specializes in top quality Georgian and Victorian domestic silver, collectors' items from the 16th to the 19th century and silver associated with British social history. The silver is almost exclusively English, Scottish or Irish. Occasionally a few collector's pieces from the Channel Islands or of Continental origin are offered for sale but we do not stock American silver. In addition to silver, our range includes British historical and commemorative medals which have a great appeal because they reflect the history of Great Britain in art form. In common with other fields of antique collecting, condition is paramount and we urge buyers to aim for the best quality they can afford. Unless an object is extremely old or rare it has little investment value if it is repaired or in poor condition.
The silver offered for sale on this website is all of the highest quality, age and rarity permitting. There are no repairs, except for the occasional old ones on a few exceptional pieces. There are no additions or subtractions apart from erasures of initials or crests. No object is part of a larger one and all are complete. All repairs, erasures and faults are carefully detailed and described to give an accurate idea of condition. To allow you to buy from us with confidence and be free of worry we have an unconditional money back guarantee.
We strongly believe that antique silver should be used and enjoyed in the home to-day. In a modern context items can often take on many varied and different uses from those for which they were originally intended. For example, large salts can be used for sugar sweeteners or chocolates, or nuts: Mugs and beakers make excellent flower vases provided the water is changed frequently. Wherever possible, suggestions for modern uses will be mentioned in the description.
Because our stock is attractive, unusual and in excellent condition, the silver you see on this website is particularly suited to be given as gifts for a variety of occasions, including:- Wedding presents, Anniversary presents, Christening presents, Bar mitzvah presents, Birthday presents, Christmas presents, Office leaving presents, Corporate gifts and many more.
We would be delighted to help with advice if you are thinking of starting, or expanding, a silver collection and can offer suggestions for a suitable present for any particular occasion.
We exhibit at major London Antiques Fairs, which means that our silver is of a standard that passes the approval of a stringent Vetting Committee. At present Sanda Lipton herself is a member of a number of Silver Vetting Committees. She is also a member of the British Antique Dealers' Association (BADA) which has extremely high standards regarding the quality of the stock of its members, as well as their conduct towards the buying public.
