Very decorative set of 6 George III silver and silver gilt Bacchanalian pattern small spoons.
Makers: John and Henry Lias. London 1872.
This pattern was initially dated from 1812 and is in the Royal Collection. The pattern was designed by Stothard for Rundell, Bridge and Rundell and most pieces were crafted by Paul Storr and the silversmiths that worked after him. Initially this pattern was produced for dessert services and is still made today but the early pieces are very hard to find.
These spoons would be a delightful addition to any service.
The full set of hallmarks are stamped on the back of the bowl and are good and clear. The maker's mark below is slightly rubbed on some of the spoons.

Silver and silver gilt
Extremely good. However, the bowl of one spoon is slightly splayed and the gilding on the reverse of the tip of the bowl is more rubbed. This is due to the fact that this one spoon was used all the time instead of being rotated.
