Very early and well formed JAMES I sterling silver seal-top spoon Maker: William Cawdell. London 1605.This delicatally formed spoon is in fact deceptively very sturdy with a well shaped bowl. The seal-top is extremely well made. There are no initials visible on the top of the seal.The maker's, sterling and date marks are deeply struck on the reverse of the stem and London town mark is strongly struck on the front of the bowl.William Cawdell was an early period London silversmith specialising in spoons.Length: 6 inches (15.25cm)Weight: 1 troy ounce (31 grams)
