Handsome GEORGE IV Vintners Company silver gilt livery medal.
Maker. John Edward Terry. London 1822.
The obverse is applied with the Vintners Company coat of arms on a latticed background.
The reverse is engraved with the name Frederick Owen Dickins 1822.
This medal was acquired when the owner became a Vintner and had to be worn when attending all formal functions at the Hall. The medal was worn with a blue ribbon attached to the suspension ring.
The full set of hallmarks are clearly stamped on the right hand side of the obverse, while the makers mark IET is stamped on the left.
The first charter of the Vintners Company was acquired in 1363 and the Company is one of the Twelve Great Livery Companies of the City of London.
